Example landed cost model

Suppose a seller buys 500 units at $6 each. International freight is $700, insurance is $50, duty is $360, customs and handling are $180, and domestic delivery is $220.

The total landed cost is $4,510, or $9.02 per unit before marketplace fees and fulfillment.

Why per-unit cost changes

If only 480 units are sellable after inspection or damage, the per-unit landed cost rises to about $9.40. This is why sellable units matter more than ordered units.

A small damage rate can change your minimum profitable price.

Before you price

After landed cost, add platform fees, fulfillment, payment fees, discounts, returns, and ads. Landed cost is only the starting point for pricing.

Keep duty and freight assumptions updated whenever supplier country, product classification, or shipment method changes.
